90% of Chinese VR companies bankrupt

It is estimated that there has been just under 300 VR startup companies launched in China during the period between 2014 and 2015 and only 10% have survived. They have struggled to compete with the large businesses that have enjoyed success like Sony, HTC, Oculus and Samsung.

A huge 70 percent of respondents of a report performed by iiMedia Research showed that users of  Chinese smartphone expressed no willingness to buy a VR headset. It appears that too many companies jumped into the virtual reality market and didn’t realise the demand was so low.

China is a gigantic market so lets hope the demand for virtual reality devices rises during 2017 and businesses have more success in winning consumers over.
